The First Quarter square between the Sun and Moon is a test: How committed are we to our goals? Whoops—what’s that wall doing there?
With the Sun @ 12 Libra and Moon @ 12 Capricorn, one glance at the chart shows you the wall. South Node @ 13, Saturn @ 14, Pluto @ 20—the Moon is moving to conjunct them all.
You thought we’d come through the worst of the Capricorn heavyweights? Not yet, I’m afraid. The First Quarter square has us right back in it.
Libra square Capricorn contrasts finesse and diplomacy with tenacity and strength. We’re facing the willingness to consider other points of view and be inclusive vs. the belief that what was good enough for our fathers is good enough for us.
Capricorn, of course, is not bad. Crafting a life in this world takes hard work and persistence. It’s just that coming up against the South Node, Saturn, and Pluto together is tough enough. In this sign, well, there’s some heavy ground to get over.
The true pattern here is a T-square. The North Node in Cancer opposes the Moon. The Sun squares both sides. These are all cardinal signs, asking, What do we lead with?
Cancer prioritizes caring, emotional well being, nurturance. Libra wants balance and harmony gained through careful discussion, a meeting of minds. Capricorn wants to get it done. Talk and feelings can wait. They’re luxuries and time is wasting.
How do we balance? Find the best way forward? The answers will look different for each of us, depending on how this First Quarter touches our birth charts and where we are in our lives.
T-squares call for dynamic balance. What do you need? What are you missing? Any point on the triangle could be too much or too little. You will know, depending on your goals and wishes.
Choices need to be made. They might not be easy, but they will be necessary.
