Tonight, we reach the Solstice, the moment the Sun enters the sign of Capricorn.
This is one of the four hinges of the year marked by the cardinal signs: the equinoxes at the opening of Aries and Libra, the solstices for Cancer and Capricorn.
Here in the northern hemisphere, we’ve reached the longest night of the year.
Perhaps we are missing the sun. yet the longest night offers magic all its own. This is a time when woodland animals go to earth, burrowing beneath rock, soil, and snow, to curl up in darkness until warmer times return.
As the Sun joins a Capricorn powerhouse of Jupiter, South Node, Ceres, Saturn, and Pluto, we may feel like doing the same. Earth is stability, security, and home––but with this mix, it feels as if the very ground under our feet is shaking.
Which might not be a bad thing. Certainly many past patterns (held in the South Node of the Moon) need to change. The thing is, we can’t predict the direction change will take. Worse? Better? Something else entirely?
The Solstice Sun is conjunct Jupiter and trines Uranus. There is transformation in the air––and whatever happens, it will be big.
The year ahead will be filled with big, amazing things. We will face challenges. The shift is underway. Its pace will pick up with the coming New Moon, which is an eclipse as well.
On this longest night of the year, find a warm and quiet place to curl up. Sleep deeply. Dream well.
Wishing you and yours all the best of this special season!
