Waxing Sextile Moon in Cancer: Legacies

posted in: Cancer, Waxing Sextile | 0

This moment of insight within the Crescent phase is marked by a sextile between the Moon and Sun, an energized, positive connection. We reach this point just around dawn tomorrow in my time zone.

By then, the Sun will have passed a conjunction with Uranus, the Moon past her conjunction with the North Node and opposition to the South. Mercury will shift from Aries into Taurus and square Saturn.

Notice how the Sun and Moon relate to the Nodes, sitting at 0 Cancer and Capricorn. Before we reach the Full Moon, they will shift into Gemini and Sagittarius.

We may all breathe a sigh of relief, mutable Air and Fire feeling much lighter and brighter than the heaviness of Earth and Water. At this sextile, Sun and Moon pay attention to these two points. So should we.

The past is such a complicated place. Interpretations, even facts, shift depending on who’s looking. Yet this is where we come from. A Zen koan asks, “who were you before you were born?” Experiences that shaped us in this life have roots in that deep past.

Mercury in Taurus challenges Saturn in Aquarius. Abstract theories can feel compelling. At the same time, the needs of the earth and of each of us as humans with bodies cannot be forgotten.

In this waxing phase, we’re looking ahead, moving forward. This sextile reminds not to forget. If moving ahead means leaving the vulnerable and disadvantaged to suffer, what legacies will we create?

Past is prologue. What can be healed now to shape a better future for all?
