The Moon has entered Virgo and tonight reaches the First Quarter square with the Sun. This is an interesting configuration placing the Moon at a focal point in this chart, not the place a Virgo Moon would choose.
Both Sun and Moon are in Mercury-ruled signs. Mercury has just entered Cancer, so this Gemini Sun–Virgo Moon challenge is ruled on both sides by the tender vulnerabilities of Cancer.
There’s still plenty of Gemini energy, with the North Node and Venus there with the Sun. Yet Venus retrograde also feels things more acutely. The remainder of her retrograde time will continue under a Cancerian sign ruler.
Because of the wider orb allowed the Moon, we see a Moon–Venus square as well. This square will be exact tomorrow (May 30) about 12 hours after the First Quarter Moon.
This Virgo Moon opposes Ceres and Mars in Pisces, while also sitting at the apex of a Thor’s Hammer aspect with the chaos goddess Eris, and Pluto and Jupiter, at its base.
Not only are we on personal journeys, the current news cycle is intense. The US news in particular is filled with violence based in long-standing patterns of injustice, discrimination, and brutality toward people of color.
With the Moon, we feel this, even as we are called to action.
There are many options and not all are clear. Venus is now combust, lost to view, so our sense of losing our way is increasing. Yet sometimes action is needed to clarify what’s really going on.
Consider where you are in your life. Perhaps it’s time to go beyond thinking and emoting. This Virgo Moon is cautious but wants to do something.
What small step can we take? That step, that action, will bring feedback. Are we confirmed? Are we getting pushback? Is the pushback something we need to honor or push into?
If we feel frozen, unable to move, note that. What can you do to take care of yourself? Those too are actions that will offer feedback.
Take a step.
