Wednesday night, we ride into the Gibbous phase with the Leo Moon. This phase opens with a sesquiquadrate (a square and a half) between the Sun and Moon.
If we’re feeling prepped and ready for the Full Moon, the Gibbous phase becomes the “one more thing.” A missed step or unexpected challenge.
In the middle decan of Leo, the Moon is regal and dignified, radiating power. It’s a wonderful place for getting things done in the world, yet can be a trap. We could get lost in our own self image, believe we’re special, and risk losing it all.
The Moon trines the North Node, Mercury, and Chiron.
The North Node is a hungry, greedy place. Staying in control demands moderation. Strong desires and a sense of entitlement are dangers here.
Mercury conjunct Chiron in Aries suggests grievances, the kind that’s always looking for someone to blame. Feeling we haven’t had our due, or been mistreated, can lead to a moody entitlement. Where’s mine?
The creative energy of Leo can be a remedy if we can laugh at our own grandiosity and find playful ways to keep ego drives in balance.
This Moon squares Jupiter and Uranus, carrying light from one to the other.
The looming Jupiter–Uranus conjunction signals radical innovations in science, technology, and philosophy. It can also bring explosions in its wake. Literal explosions, out of control conflicts, and bad tempers.
Will the Leo Moon choose fanning the flames for her own gain, or channeling innovation and conflict in creative ways?
Where do we feel powerful? Where do we feel aggrieved or greedy for more? Where are we tempted to use power over, rather than power with?
These are the challenges of the Gibbous Moon in Leo.
Two events within this phase might lower the heat.
Venus reaches her exact conjunction with Saturn March 21. Venus loves Pisces, but Saturn puts a damper on enthusiasm. This is a quiet time for Venus but also signals the end of her besiegement. Once she passes Saturn, she is no longer enclosed. This is excellent.
Mars enters Pisces March 22. This cools off all Martian things. Mars currently rules the Sun, North Node, Chiron, and Mercury in Aries. Mars in Pisces can’t help with clarity but Piscean waters do reduce the probability of things bursting into flames.
It’s a good time to check ourselves, find humility, and let go of Big Ideas of who we are.
