Balsamic Moon in Aries: Clean Slate

In this phase, the Moon gradually loses light in the sky before disappearing completely until she returns after the New Moon. It’s a time of letting go.

This Moon at the end of Aries, though, will not go gentle into that good night. This Moon wants to create a beautiful ending, a memorable finale.

The Moon is 45º from the Sun and Venus, the waning semisquare that defines the Balsamic phase. This is a stressy aspect as the planets involved try to figure out how to sort out the friction between them.

This time, there’s not as much friction as it first appears. While the Moon has little power in Aries, the Sun is exalted and Venus rules this final decan. They want to help the Moon sort out the ending to this storyline.

The Moon is moving away from a conjunction with Mars, Eris, and Chiron, a place where she knows what it costs to act boldly and face the consequences.

The Moon’s next aspect will be a square to Pluto, as she enters Taurus. It’s a time of deep transformation, of going to ground after dangerous adventures.

This Balsamic Moon wants us to let go of the past. Whatever has happened, whether success or failure, triumph or disaster, it’s time to drawn a line under all of it and prepare to start anew.

In the next days before the New Moon, Mercury enters Gemini, a fresh, bright new beginning for the planet of mind and communication. Venus will reach her cazimi with the Sun, another time of renewal.

The Aries Moon knows when to cut away what is no longer needed so we can start with a clean slate.
