Balsamic Moon in Scorpio: The Old Skin

The Balsamic phase is often quiet. A sequestered time as we focus on preparing for the New Moon to come. This Balsamic Moon in Scorpio may appear calm on the outside, while offering deep inner experiences.

The Moon (13º10’ Scorpio) conjuncts the South Node (12º32’ Scorpio). We are deep in the territory of the past, of legacies, ancestry, and the realm of Soul.

The Moon and South Node sit at the apex of a yod, the awkward pattern with two 150º angles on the sides and a sextile across the base, where we fine Mars (11º53’ Gemini) and Chiron (11º56’ Aries). We’re deep in past patterns, feeling how the past can trap us into repetitions of chaos, and also how changes for healing and release can appear if we stay focused.

The answer to a yod lies opposite the apex, where we find Uranus Rx (15º25’ Taurus) conjunct the North Node (12º32’ Taurus). Paradoxically, the solutions to the past lie in the future. Change is the only constant.

Meanwhile, the Sun (28º10’ Sag) squares Chiron to form the base of a Thor’s Hammer (135º angles with a square at the base) with Uranus and the North Node at its apex. The future does not feel stable. This volatile pattern reminds us the way forward will be challenging and uncertain.

Yet change we must. Ceres has just entered Libra (00º18’). She opposes Jupiter at the very edge of the Piscean precipice (29º57’). Tomorrow, Jupiter enters Aries, beginning a new round through the zodiac.

As we await the turning of the year at the Solstice, and the Capricorn New Moon to follow, we shed our old skins. Before we can begin again, we slough off the old.

When snakes shed their skins, their eyes cloud over as the scales protecting the eyes also loosen. We may not see clearly during this time, yet we know the only way forward it through. We cannot hold on to what no longer fits.
