The Moon, having been thoroughly grounded in Capricorn, moves into Aquarius, the fixed Air sign that looks to the future.
Tomorrow as we enter the Crescent Moon phase, the Aquarius Moon (19º48’) will gently revisit the Saturn–Uranus square as it separates from a square to Uranus (15º15’ Taurus) to apply to a conjunction with Saturn (21º53’). Both aspects are within orb.
Transitioning from Capricorn to Aquarius, we’re reminded of the tension between past and future, hope and legacy, what is and what may be. Fitting as we end one calendar year and prepare to begin another.
How do we move from the foundations of our current life into an uncertain, open-ended future? Here we consider the difference between “forecast” and “predict.” Yes, these words are used interchangeably but are not quite the same.
To “forecast” is to extrapolate from what we know. What do current data suggest? What trends have we been following? What can we say based on what we see on the ground?
To “predict” is to say ahead. Here we may rely on past data, but are more ready to speculate. What would we like to see? What changes can we make to shift the future in those directions? What would the potential results of such changes be?
Either process can focus on problems or possibilities, on probable doom or hope for a better time ahead.
Capricorn favors doom-focused forecasting, which it feels is only realistic. Aquarius leans into future possibilities with a utopian vibe, because action follows vision.
As we move into the Crescent phase, the Moon gaining light in the sky, we’re ready to plan ahead. What are your thoughts about the future? What can we change for ourselves and others? What steps can we take in this lunar cycle to create the future we’d love to see?
