In a few hours, we enter the Crescent Moon phase with the Moon in Gemini just past (and still with orb of) a conjunction with Venus.
Usually, the Crescent phase is when we plan how to reach our goals for this lunar cycle. Yet we’ve just been through a New Moon eclipse whose impact is still reverberating.
We may feel like a highly-strung Victorian heroine who needs a strong cup of tea and a long lie down in a darkened room. If we cannot have rest and quiet, we might raise a languid hand to our brow and swoon.
It’s been intense. A New Moon at the very end of Aries squared by Pluto is the definition of intense. It’s far too soon to know what we ought to be doing, never mind making plans.
The Moon and Venus are both in Gemini, ruled by Mercury. This Mercury is already resting in a dark room. Mercury stationed retrograde on Friday, is still barely moving, and experiences their evening set today. Mercury is no longer visible in the sky, and will remain so until after their cazimi.
The Sun at 03º Taurus is less than a degree from the North Node at 04º Taurus. The North Node is an energized, activated place. Not at all the sort of energy a slightly crispy Sun wants. Maybe the Sun will join the Moon and Venus in tea and a nap.
Mars, not at his best in Cancer, moves to square Chiron in Aries. Our best move for this Crescent Moon is to check in with ourselves. After the tumult of the eclipse, what hurts? What wounds need tending? Let’s take care of those first.
Of course, for some, the New Moon brought a wonderful new opening, something exciting and much desired. But that too can be exhausting. There’s so much. What should we do first?
Whether your experience of the Aries New Moon eclipse was difficult, wonderful, or something in between, we’re all feeling a bit delicate. We need to recalibrate.
The best focus for that energy might well be how to make the most of the Mercury retrograde.
Mercury entered the retrograde shadow on April 7 at 05º 50’ Taurus. The “shadow” is the space that Mercury will return to, during this retrograde.
Mercury stationed retrograde at 15º 37’ Taurus on April 21. The retrograde conjunction with the Sun happens May 1, with the Sun and Mercury at 11º 19’ Taurus. This is the halfway point of the retrograde period.
Mercury stations direct May 14 at 05º 50’ Taurus. The retrograde shadow period ends May 31 when Mercury again reaches 15º 37’ Taurus.
These dates and zodiac positions are markers. How will this Mercury retrograde affect your birth chart? Have things already happened that give you a heads up on what to expect?
Taurus rules comfortable, sensual, cozy things. Also investments. Taurus is reliable, dependable, loyal, and stubborn. Mercury is the mind. In an Earth sign like Taurus, we might become aware of our bodies in new ways. Where am I comfortable in my own skin? Where am I not?
All of these are excellent topics to focus on now … after that tea and nap, of course.
