Just after midnight tonight in my time zone, we enter the Crescent phase with the Moon in the early Leo spotlight.
The Sun, Mercury, and Venus are still together as they were at the New Moon. We’re past the Venus cazimi; Mercury’s is still to come. Both Mercury and Venus are combust, fully hidden in the blaze of the Sun, yet very much present.
We’re infused with brilliant ideas, creative inspiration, and a heartfelt desire to see the world with fresh eyes. We’re in the blooming, buzzing confusion early psychologist William James described as the world of the infant. So much to see and say and do.
The 45º angle from the Moon to the Sun that defines the Crescent phase includes Mercury and Venus. The Moon has light now. She looks back to the triple conjunction and wants to create something tangible with what she’s learned.
Leo is bold, playful, creative, expressive. As a fixed sign, Leo has the capacity to focus and the drive to reach a goal, qualities Gemini can struggle with.
Yet it might not be as easy as the Leo–Gemini connection makes it look.
This Moon is part of a T-square with Pluto in Aquarius and Mars in Taurus. This is a very different landscape, one that is dark and powerful.
Mars–Pluto squares are intense and contentious. Hidden power dynamics might become overt, or we realize the pushback we’re facing is coming from a secretive, shadowy place.
In our personal lives, emotions can become heightened, fiercer, and more intense. Or the reactions of those around us can take on these characteristics. Things can escalate.
The Moon in Leo can help us, if we can stay aware of our own reactions and needs.
Leo can be easily wounded and dramatic. Leo also transmutes deep experience into creative work.
Leo can, stand tall and speak out. In the spotlight, Leo shines. With an opposition to Pluto and a square to Mars, what we bring forward will have depth and staying power.
It’s good to be aware of the presence and power of the Mars–Pluto square. Focused attention is exactly what a Leo Moon brings.
What blooms now is worth holding on to. Don’t be surprised when conversations, experiences, realizations move out of the Shadow and power dynamics can be seen for what they are.
Our best creative work is fed by what arises from the depths and blooms in the Sun.

Thanks this was somewhat hopeful and needed at the moment! My artwork is changing this afternoon, maybe the influence of this moon…I was struggling with the lessons in class and and now I am feeling free and moving into an inspired more authentic space.

That sounds like a great way to work with this energy. The Mars-Pluto square remains in effect until the 11th or 12th, so, that part is not over yet. The Moon moves much more quickly and will not be triggering the other two by the end of Monday, the 10th.
