Crescent Moon in Libra: The Raveled Sleave

Dane Rudhyar spoke of the Crescent Moon as a time when we want to move forward but may be held back—“haunted”—by the past. We can certainly feel at this time in history.

The Sun is poised in the final degree of Leo, a place where we feel embattled, as though we must remain fierce to protect what we’ve won. This third face of Leo is ruled by Mars.

Mars, of course, is strong in Aries, preparing to square Saturn, a connection that can certainly leave us feeling defensive and ready to fight.

Yet this Crescent Moon offers another option. The Libra Moon in the second decan is concerned with promises, wanting them to be honored. We bond with others in mutual care and cooperation.

The Moon squares Venus in Cancer, their mutual reception softening the harshness of the angle. The Moon is in Venus’ house and Venus visits the Moon’s.

Venus in the second decan of Cancer rests inside a walled garden, where she and all she cares for are protected.

Meanwhile, Mercury in early Virgo is a humble witness to all that unfolds.
In this phase, we feel the world, the strength of what challenges us. We want to get to work, enter the struggle, and also feel daunted by what lies ahead. Are we ready?

Like Macbeth, one of Shakespeare’s most haunted heroes, we long for rest, for support, for good dreams, to knit up the raveled sleave of care.

We’re called to both stay aware and prepare for challenge, and also to find peace and solace. We will need support in the times to come.
