Disseminating Moon in Sagittarius: Still Standing

Tonight we enter the Disseminating phase with a stalwart Moon in Sagittarius facing into a definite challenge.

The aspect pattern at the heart of this chart is called Thor’s Hammer, a name that captures its dynamic energy.

This is a triangle with a square across its base, and two sesquiquadrates (135º or a square-and-a-half) reaching up each side to the apex.

The Sagittarius Moon sits at the apex of this Hammer, just as we found her at the apex of the yod in the Full Moon chart. She just can’t catch a break–although in these times, that isn’t too surprising.

The square and sesquiquadrates make a Thor’s Hammer much more dynamic and (that word again) challenging than a yod.

The square between Mars at the end of Cancer and the Sun at the end of Aries is fascinating on its own. Mars is still working his way through the final review of his retrograde. He’ll enter Leo on April 18 (yay!) but won’t complete his post-retrograde review until May 2.

This Mars is ruled by the Moon, while ruling the Sun, which creates tighter bonds and additional tension within the pattern.

What did we learn about action, protection, frustration, emotionality, aggression (including passive aggression), and personal goals during this Mars retrograde? Any and all of that might be activated now.

The Sun at the end of Aries longs to direct some of its Fire into creating beauty in the world. Venus rules this last face of Aries. She’s currently exalted the end of Pisces, while also conjunct Saturn. It’s possible this strong Venus can help the Sun focus Saturn into new, creative forms.

The Moon in mid Sagittarius is strong and wary. It’s not this Moon’s first rodeo. There’s a guarded quality here that T. Susan Chang names “tensile strength,” the ability to hold the line and not break.

Opposite the Moon, we find Jupiter in Gemini, who rules this Moon. He supports the Moon as best he can. He’s as upbeat as the situation allows, and excels at generating new ideas for solving what may seem to be intractable problems.

Mercury, ruler of Gemini and therefore of this Jupiter, has just reentered Aries and is conjunct Neptune. Mercury, too, is completing their post-retrograde review. Again, we’re asked, what have we learned? How has our thinking changed–our perceptions altered–as we wandered the depths of Piscean dreaming?

How to be translate our perceptions and thoughts into dynamic, new Aries dreams?

This is the phase in which we integrate and explore what we learned at the Full Moon. There’s almost too much to process, so the strength of a Thor’s Hammer may come in handy.

We’re facing into challenge. What inner resources can we draw on? Which of the many messages and ideas populating our inner and outer spaces are worth exploring?

As we sort through it all, the way forward may be to make a choice. Which path calls us most strongly? It’s not about which is the closest, or the easiest. Which ones calls our name?
