We’re entering the First Quarter, a time of skill building and taking action, with a chart that offers contrasting messages.
Mercury remains under the beams of the Sun, just past the illumination of their cazimi. Jupiter opposes these two, with Mercury and Jupiter in mutual reception.
Here we see the bright, scintillating optimism of new ideas and fresh perspectives. We want to dive into creating something new.
Venus has entered Aquarius to conjunct Pluto and the asteroid Ceres. Here are lofty ideals set like glittering gems in crystalline structures.
There’s a mythic dimension here too. Pluto/ Hades is conjunct Ceres, the Roman name for the goddess Demeter, as well as Venus (who might be Persephone).
The classic version of Persephone’s story speaks to powerful Hades initiating Persephone into the dark mysteries, while Demeter grieves. Yet whispers of an earlier version of this tale, in the time before the Hellenistic Greeks, tells us that Persephone is and always was Queen of the Underworld. The feminine principal understands the dark.
The Pisces Moon sails between Saturn and Neptune, who has just stationed direct. This Moon is in deep waters. In classical terms, the Moon is caught between Zeus and Poseidon, not an enviable place to be. Yet most ocean deities are goddesses, not gods. A different version might see the Moon accepting the discipline of a Saturnian initiation to dive deeply into oceanic Neptunian mysteries.
Remember, also, how many retrogrades are happening. We can plan and create and move forward, as long as we also review, revisit, and revise. “Remember” is a retrograde word.
Pay attention to foundations before building up bright palaces.
