First Quarter Moon in Taurus: Medicine in the Wound

A Sun–Moon square defines the First Quarter Moon, and, this particular First Quarter arrives with a spirit of fortunate progress.

The Moon @ 12 Taurus is in a lovely place, both exalted and as triplicity ruler in this night chart. (Also, fwiw, the Moon in Taurus is my favorite.)

The Moon’s square to the Sun @ 12 Aquarius accompanies a waning trine to the South Node, waning sextile to the North Node, and applying trine to Jupiter. This patient, loyal Moon gathers messages about our karmic path from the Nodes and carries them to Jupiter for tending.

Similarly, the ongoing square between Eris in Aries and Pluto and Saturn in Capricorn is eased by a sextile from Venus to Pluto and Saturn. The shocking state of the world still presses, but hope is here too.

Ceres, the Roman name for the goddess Demeter, enters Aquarius. This creates a square to Uranus, presenting challenges and upsets to the fruitfulness of the Earth.

Yet if we borrow a concept from traditional astrology, we see these two are in mutual reception, Uranus as the modern ruler of Aquarius and Ceres easily linked to Taurus. The challenges are real and innovative approaches may help.

The challenge of the First Quarter Moon is one of commitment. Are we ready to accept what we need to do? Can we let go of outmoded ways of acting? We see these questions in each challenge in this chart.

The accompanying sextiles and trines remind us that the medicine is found in the wound. Poisons are often the sources of our strongest medicines.

Remember, squares call for dynamic balance. We are meant, not to turn our back on problems, but to lean into them.

If we can engage, stay present, and patiently watch and tend, a solution will emerge from the challenge itself.
