Gibbous Moon in Libra: Counterpoint

Tomorrow morning, we enter the Gibbous phase, the last before the Full Moon in Sagittarius of May 23.

This phase opens with a sesqiquadrate, a square-and-a-half, between the Sun and Moon. With all the planets clustered around the Sun, we see once again a complex pattern.

In addition, the Moon in Libra is conjunct the South Node of the Moon as both oppose the North Node and Mars, conjunct in Aries.

In music, counterpoint is a style of music in which different melodic lines are played against each other. The sounds weave together to create a complex and intriguing sound. The simplest form of counterpoint is a round. As each singer begins a measure or two after the previous, the melodies combine in unexpected ways.

What we see in this chart is like that.

The Moon conjunct the South Node in Libra could speak to letting go. Perhaps we turn away from a creative project or relationship that no longer works. Or a creative project is ready to be released into the world. We let it go to see what it can become.

Mars conjunct the North Node in Aries brings an intense wanting and a strong desire to move quickly and decisively to seize what we want. This a place of risk and no forethought. We want what we want.

Meanwhile, the Moon and South Node sesquiquadrate the Sun, Jupiter, Venus, and Uranus. This actives a deeply creative and relational space. Maybe we’re letting go of the past to embrace a new way of being that has great staying power.

We may be offered choices that call for a leap of faith.

The Sun is tightly sextile Neptune, so, issues of belief are part of this pattern too.

What’s the right move? That choice will be different for each of us. Listen to the intertwined melodies you hear. Decide when the moment is right to add your voice to the song.
