Gibbous Moon in Sagittarius: Escape Route

The patterns we’re moving through are intense. We’re asked to face into personal and global challenges and not look away. To stay creative and passionate in the face of hard things. This isn’t easy.

The Gibbous Moon represents a final hurdle before the illumination of the Full. Today’s Gibbous Moon in Sagittarius asks, are we in? Because, hey, if not, now’s the time to ride off into the sunset. There’s the horse. Right there. All yours.

The Moon, conjunct the South Node, sits at the top of a yod with Uranus and Mercury at its base. We want change. We want it now. It feels like the only safe direction is out, away, far.

But remember this is the South Node of the past. We tried this before. Did it work? Was it satisfying? If it worked, why are we here again?

The Sagittarius Moon trines Chiron. Are we running away or running toward? Which way can we find healing?

I keep thinking of Tracy Chapman’s song Fast Car. It’s full of longing and hope and a pressing desire for change before it’s too late. The ending reminds us we cannot outrun our issues. Some challenges follow us, showing up again in new forms.

The answer to the yod lies with the North Node, the place of the new. Have we got problems? You bet. We need solutions yesterday. Yet quick escapes won’t do it. Time to face in and get innovative.

Another side to Sagittarius is the philosopher, the one who wants to understand. This need to work it all out can become another kind of escape. If we can’t act until we have it all mapped, it could be too late.

Mercury is in the Moon’s sign but the Moon is in the sign that’s problematic for Mercury, who is happier with the Gemini North Node. Uranus, too, wants change, of course. We need innovative action based on what’s available now. “More study” just holds the line for the status quo.

Even in this lingering pandemic, the world offers many fast cars. They look really temping right now.

Will you go or stay?
