Tomorrow just about dawn (in my Eastern US time zone), we enter the Last Quarter phase with the Moon in mid Taurus. We might expect a calm time with a Taurus Moon, but the aspects are bright, intense, and energized.
First, the Last Quarter square itself is enough to light up this phase. With the Sun at 15º Leo and the Moon at 15º Taurus, we link the energies of Beltaine and Lughnasadh. We’re reminded that the passions of Beltaine, festival of fertility, comes back to us now in the fruits of Lughnasadh.
These are the two festivals in the bright half of the year in the ancient Celtic calendar. This calendar is organized around bright and dark, similar to the yin and yang that potentiate each other.
At Beltaine, we entered the bright half of the bright half of the year: The time of the Taurus Sun. At Lughnasadh, we enter the dark half of the bright half, as the Leo Sun ripens fruits and grains made fertile 3 months ago.
The complex dance of time is reflected in other aspects.
The Moon is not alone in Taurus. She sits between Jupiter and Uranus, conjunct both. The journey from seed to fruit requires change, deep, fundamental, and expansive. The Leo Sun squares all three.
Venus retrograde in Leo moves toward another square with Uranus, exact on Wednesday morning. What inner and outer changes are we experiencing during this potent Venusian time?
She also moves toward her cazimi with the Sun on August 13, a culminating (thought hidden) moment in her retrograde journey.
Mercury at 12º and Mars at 17º Virgo trine the Moon, Jupiter, and Uranus. We may need to slow down our thinking and our actions to grasp the intensity of the squares. So much is happening. We don’t want to miss a thing.
Meanwhile, Pluto continues to square the Nodes and sextile Neptune. Cosmic questions of fate and fortune, of the deepest layers of our knowing, are also in play.
Saturn is the only planet unaspected in this chart. There is no restriction here. No holding back. We are meant to move into this illuminated time. To take in what we see and feel. To act if and when we’re ready.
We are on fertile ground. It is the end of the growing season in the Northern hemisphere, yet already we gather seeds for the next season. Which seeds will you save to plant next?
