Tomorrow’s Waxing Sextile Moon is worth noting for several reasons.
First, comparing the Placidus and Whole Sign charts creates an interesting counterpoint that echoes today’s Crescent Moon charts. This time, the emphasis is on the Midheaven.
In the Placidus chart, we see 13º of Cancer rising and a Midheaven at 27º Pisces. Neptune is conjunct the Midheaven, which emphasizes the very misty, dreamlike landscape we’re in.
Notice how all of the sign of Aries is contained inside the 10th House. That fiery energy is there, but tough to access. Pisces seems to be hiding Aries, which is a very Piscean thing to do.
In the Whole Sign chart, the degrees of the Rising Sign and Midheaven are the same. BUT there is no interception for Aries, who gets all of the 10th House–even though the Midheaven is still in late Pisces conjunct Neptune.
This is because in Whole Sign, the zodiac sign on the Ascendant determines all the other signs on the house cusps. When Cancer is rising, Aries will always be the sign on the 10th.
Again we see tension between Pisces and Aries playing out across the two chart styles.
The Whole Sign layout might say, “hey, we learned all we need to know about fog. Now it’s time to get things done!”
The Placidus chart seems to answer, “ha, not so fast–you may think you know everything about the mists, but there’s so much more to learn.”
There is a special relationship between the Sun and Venus that creates a link across the Pisces–Aries divide. If we only look at their positions, we’d say the Sun and Venus are too close to see each other, so, no connection at all.
Yet something is happening behind the scenes. The Sun and Venus have a mutual reception by exaltation.
The Sun is exalted in Aries (where Venus is). Venus is exalted in Pisces (where the Sun is).
This creates a private line that Venus and Sun can use to stay in touch. It’s useful.
And now the Moon! The Sun–Moon sextile happens within the Crescent phase. It’s a time when the Sun and Moon check in on how we’re doing with goal setting.
This Moon in Taurus conjunct the North Node and opposite the South wants stuff. Taurus always wants stuff. Cozy stuff. Tasty stuff. Stuff that lasts and grows in value. The North Node always wants stuff and can be greedy about it.
What’s the message?
The Taurus Moon reminds us that misty Water and highly charged Fire are wonderfully transformative, but you can’t live on them. While we’re sorting out the landscape and arguing about when to move, someone needs to make sandwiches.
The Moon is exalted in Taurus, loving the comfy, steady, devotion of fixed Earth. This is a reminder to be sure our goals have tangible results, and to take care of ourselves on the way.
Yes, this is the ‘stop and smell the roses’ moment. With snax and a good book.
